Descending the spiral staircase

  1. Love it. Of course, no 'real' castles here in America. One day I'll see some real ones.

  2. Judy - Here in the Midwest, in lieu of castles, I like to imagine old, stone, ruinous grain silos as our castles - towering remnants of what once was. Some covered in Virginia Creeper and occasionally with trees growing out of the top. They are so ubiquitous here that I think people have ceased to notice them, their place in the landscape, and their charm. I've always wondered if that's how folks abroad feel about a crumbling castle...if they don't quite even register the rubble anymore or if, in fact, they also find them charming as we Americans do who are castle-deprived.

  3. I love the perspective of this stairwell snap. Really well done!

  4. Thanks Larry, Perhaps practice makes perfect, as I seem to snap this exact photo on nearly every stone staircase that I climb :)
